BG Joseph Bailey Camp meetings and minutes

The Brig. Gen. Joseph Bailey Camp No. 5 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War meets the second Wednesday of each month, at 6 p.m. at the Caddo Parish Coroner's office, 2900 Hearne Ave., Shreveport, La. 71103. Meetings are open to all interested visitors regardless of race, creed, national origin or political affiliation, but due to the location they must call and alert the camp commander of their intent to attend. If you wish to attend via Zoom, request an invitation from the camp commander at least three days prior to the meeting. Members, affiliates and visitors need to bear in mind that the SUVCW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and cannot take part in political actions. Aside from that restriction, visitors should have a sincere interest in the U.S. Civil War (1861-1865) and the Reconstruction Era that followed (1865-1878). Ancestors who served in the Confederacy are not an impediment to membership, and in fact many members are jocularly referred to as "SOBs" (sons of both).

Due to the Wuhan/COVID-19 novel coronavirus pandemic, physical meetings have been suspended, effective March 2020, and Zoom meetings are being held instead.
